SAMBA BAMBA FC Sucks

Dear readers of my Blog, this is a true story why a FC from Vile Parle Tried to eliminate out Unbeaten run @ our Home Ground ie Shivaji Park.

Samba Bamba fc from Vile Parle Had heard our Reputation & challenged us. We accepted their challenge thinking that they were very competitive side. They boasted about themselves that they had played in Lakshadweep, and scored 13 goals against a hapless Galli team. Most of the team members including me didnt know about the match.UD the captain had called me @ 730 am when the match was scheduled @ 8.We were obivously Without Practise.

When The match started it was obivously a cake walk for us 7-0, imagine that too withoput Practise. Now as promised they had the chance to host us for our away leg.But they themselves want to play away!!Then we mutually decided that match was on 26th DEC. Now again they are refusing to take match as they have classes!!!

Till next Good bye!

Collingwood promises 'attacking' England

ONDON, June 22, 2007 (AFP) - Paul Collingwood, named Friday as England's one-day captain, said he wanted a new-look squad to "attack the opposition" during the upcoming series against the West Indies.

The Durham all-rounder replaced Michael Vaughan, who has opted to concentrate on his role at the helm of the Test team.

Both Vaughan and Test opener Andrew Strauss were left out of the squad that will face the West Indies in two Twenty20 and three one-day internationals starting next week.

Collingwood, 31, had been widely expected to get the role after England's leading one-day batsman Kevin Pietersen - the only other fit contender guaranteed a place in the side - said he did not feel ready for the responsibility of captaincy.

"We have played our best one-day cricket when we have been aggressive and tried to take the attack to the opposition," Collingwood told a news conference Friday at his Riverside home ground, broadcast by Sky Sports.

"I'm not talking about going out there from ball one and trying to whack the ball all over the place," added Collingwood who scored hundreds during England's shock triangular one-day series victory in Australia in February.

"Hopefully we will approach it a bit more positively than in the past."

Strauss led England last year when Vaughan and Andrew Flintoff were both injured but a recent lack of form dampened his chances.

Meanwhile leading all-rounder Flintoff is currently recovering from an ankle operation having been stripped of the vice-captaincy at the World Cup following a late night drinking session that culminated with him being found in a pedalo in the early hours of the morning.

David Graveney, chairman of the England selectors, said of Collingwood: "He has been a key member of the one-day team for a while and we believe he is ready to take on the additional responsibility of captaincy."

Collingwood, who has little experience at county level of being captain, said: "I have got more than 100 caps experience in the one-day game and hopefully that will put me in good stead for what is going to come ahead."

Neither Flintoff, Sajid Mahmood (hernia) or Ravi Bopara (thigh) were fit enough for consideration.

And a further five players from the World Cup squad have been overlooked - Vaughan, Strauss, Jamie Dalrymple, Paul Nixon and Jon Lewis.

Hampshire all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas -- who was brought up in Australia -- and Warwickshire's South African-born batsman Jonathan Trott earn their first international call-ups as part of a 14-man squad.

"Jonathan will give us options in the top three of the order," said Graveney. "Similarly, Dimitri Mascarenhas enjoys an excellent record in the shorter form of the game, has shown that he can take wickets on different types of surfaces and is also an effective hitter in the lower order."

England have yet to win the World Cup, the last of their three losing appearances in the final coming in 1992, and failed to reach the semi-finals of this year's edition in the Caribbean in April, continuing a poor run of results at recent World Cups.

They play West Indies in the first of two back-to-back Twenty20 matches at The Oval on June 28 before three one-day internationals in the first week of July. A seven-match one-day series against India starts in August.

England one-day squad

Paul Collingwood (Durham, capt), James Anderson (Lancashire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Stuart Broad (Leicestershire), Alastair Cook (Essex), Dimitri Mascarenhas (Hampshire), Monty Panesar (Northamptonshire), Kevin Pietersen (Hampshire), Liam Plunkett (Durham), Matt Prior (Sussex, wk), Owais Shah (Middlesex), Ryan Sidebottom (Nottinghamshire), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire), Michael Yardy (Sussex)

It's Barcelona for me, Henry confirms

PARIS, June 23, 2007 (AFP) - Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has confirmed reports that he is leaving the London club to play for Spanish giants Barcelona.

The 29-year-old French star told L'Equipe newspaper that the two clubs had reached agreement on his transfer, but that for the moment nothing had been signed ahead of him taking medical tests on Monday.

L'Equipe confirmed earlier reports that it would be a four-year deal worth 24 million euros (32 million dollars).

Henry said he had been disappointed that news of the mega deal had leaked on Friday before all the loose ends had been tied up "but some people quite clearly could not hold their tongues."

"I always made it clear that if I was to leave, the only club I would go to would be Arsenal," the Gunners skipper said.

"I chose Barcelona for the type of football they play, for the history of the club for the stadium they play in.

"Also for (coach) Frank Rijkaard for whom I have the greatest respect both as a player and a coach.

"It's true that for me it will be a new league championship, a new language but I chose Barcelona for all of those reasons."

Henry, Arsenal's leading all-time scorer with 226 goals in 369 games since moving to Highbury from Juventus eight years ago, said that the recent changes at Arsenal with the departure of vice-chairman David Dein had also been a factor in his deciding to move.

"That was the process that started the whole thing off and coloured my reasoning. I don't think many people realise just how important David Dein was to Arsenal.

"On top of that the fact that (coach) Arsene Wenger would not be extending his contract (which expires in June 2008) was also a very important matter to bear in consideration.

"These were the two people (Dein and Wenger) that I wanted to be in association with when I took the decision to sign a new contract at Arsenal last summer.

"I fully respect what has happened since, but I never thought it would happen like that."

Currently sidelined with an injury, Henry said that he hoped to resume full training in two weeks and be ready for Barcelona's start to preparations for the new season on July 20.

He also said he hoped to continue to play a full part in France's campaign to reach the Euro 2008 finals in Austrai and Switzerland.

Henry has played 92 times for his country and scored 39 goals.
